Sal's Gilbert Pizza
About This Spot
Walking into Sal’s Gilbert Pizza, you immediately feel the warm embrace of a place that’s truly rooted in genuine hospitality. It’s the kind of casual, lively neighborhood spot where the hum of friendly conversation blends effortlessly with the rich aromas of wood-fired dough and melting mozzarella. The space moves at an easy, welcoming pace — familiar enough to make regulars feel like old friends, yet vibrant enough to welcome newcomers eager to discover their new favorite slice.
Sal’s is a tribute not just to pizza but to a way of sharing food that feels personal and unpretentious. The staff carries an approachable energy, ready to help guide you through a menu that’s playfully inventive yet lovingly anchored in Southern Italian tradition. From the moment you bite into a garlic knot — those pockets of buttery softness that seem to melt on your tongue — to the last forkful of a creamy fettuccine or a rich slice of cannoli, every dish invites you to slow down and savor the joy of communal eating.
The real charm of Sal’s emerges in those small human moments: the good-natured banter of the servers, the way the owner might stop by your table to share a quick story or recommendation, or the laughter that bubbles up around groups indulging in generous, thin-crust pizza slices crafted in true New York style. It’s a place that feels familiar without being predictable, where comfort and discovery go hand in hand.
Whether you’re sharing plates of buffalo chicken pizza alongside spicy wings, or balancing a fresh house salad with a hearty baked ziti pizza, the experience is relaxed but distinctly vibrant — a reminder that great Italian food isn’t just about the recipe, it’s about the people and atmosphere that bring it alive. Sal’s captures that rhythm beautifully, making it a favorite local anchor in Gilbert’s dining scene.

This place was amazing but what really blew our minds, was the garlic knots! Holy cow they have heavenly butter pockets! Just do yourself a favor and get them!!! The pizza and fried ravioli was delicious too! We need to make this a monthly trip from Tucson! The staff was also very helpful and funny in helping us decide what we wanted to eat. It was a great time out.

Great food, great atmosphere, Sal always comes by the table and makes you feel at home. Joey in the bar is an excellent server/bar tender. He knows the menu and can help with all your dining needs.

Phenomenal pizza... you'll keep ordering even though you're feeling full. Brought dessert home and enjoyed that too. We will definitely be back with friends who come into town craving pizza.

Casual, fun, friendly and great food. This is the pizza I've been looking for! Some say they have New York style pizza, but they really don't. Sal's Gilbert Pizza really does though! Large, thin, very savory with a true New York style, feel, taste and texture. I loved it! Pretty good bartender too, and nice.

Sal’s Gilbert Pizza really hit the spot! The mozzarella sticks were breaded to perfection and paired perfectly with the marinara. For pizza, I tried the Pepperoni, Baked Ziti, Tricolore, White Pizza, and Meat Lovers — each one was delicious in its own way. The Tricolore was so unique I had to try it, and the Meat Lovers was a must for me. The slices are generous in size, making it hard to choose a favorite. The restaurant itself has a clean, inviting, family-friendly atmosphere with lots of natural light, which I really appreciated. Overall, this is a solid spot for great New York–style pizza in Gilbert, and I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

A true Gilbert gem! Lynda had the Eggplant Parmesan Pizza—crispy, loaded with flavor, and the sauce was spot on. I went with the Sicilian Pizza with pepperoni—thick, crispy crust, bold sauce, and just the right amount of kick from the pepperoni. Joey took great care of us—friendly, quick, and made us feel right at home. Italian music playing, great vibe, and even on a Sunday afternoon, we only waited five minutes. We came because we saw Sal’s Gilbert Pizza on Diners, Drive‑Ins and Dives—they’re known for their Baked Ziti Pizza, and now I get why Guy Fieri featured it. You can taste the passion in everything they serve. Oh—and the cannoli? I’m not kidding—it blew my head off. Hands down one of the best I’ve ever had.

I came in during lunch on a Tuesday and they offer a great lunch menu. You order at the counter, pay and they provide you with your number. You are able to sit in any of the two sides of the restaurant. They offer outdoor seating but it appears it's for larger parties. The tables are long. I order the lunch combo: 1 cheese slice, 6 garlic knots and drink for $10.88 after tax. The staff brought my pizza slice and informed me my garlic knots would be out soon since they were making a fresh batch. The marinara sauce was missing some salt but they had table salt so that was an easy fix. My food was hot, I enjoyed the food and felt the combo was a good portion.
